THE SAVIOUR IS BORN

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me'” (John 14:6).

"But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people. For to you is born this day in the town of David a Saviour, Who is Christ the Lord! And this will be a sign for you: you will find a Baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. Then suddenly there appeared with the angel an army of troops of heaven, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom He is well pleased’” (Luke 2:10-14).

A great relief it was when Alexander Graham Bell announced to the world the invention of the telephone enabling speech to be transmitted along a wire or cable.

Good news it was when Michael Faraday discovered electricity, which laid the foundation of electrical engineering.

A memorable event took place when the British scientist, J. J. Thompson discovered the electrons, a fundamental particle found in all forms of matter, which paved the way for electronics, lasers, television, computer images and medical scanning. All these inventions no doubt have altered tremendously the way we live. But the angels found nothing exciting about them to announce to the world as they did at the birth of Christ Jesus. Why? Because the joy and benefits we derive from the invention of telephone, electricity, electrons and the printing press cannot be compared with the joy and benefits we have in the birth of the Saviour Jesus Christ.

Glad tidings surely it was when Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, which opened the landmark in the world of printing. Still it is no way compared to the joy the world received when Christ the Lord was born. Somebody may have invented the telephone but Jesus remains the only to God (John 14:6 / 14:13-14).

Regardless of the revolutionary changes taking place in the telecommunication world, the name of Jesus still remains the source of Hope for mankind (Proverbs 18:10/ Philippians 2:9-11). Somebody may have discovered electricity to give us light and energy, but Jesus remains the “True-Light”, who lights every man who comes into the world (John 1:9-12).

J. J. Thomson may have discovered the electrons for image-making but Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God remains our Chief image-maker who came to reconcile us with God the Father (2 Corinthians 3:18). No matter the changes that have taken place or will take place in the printing world, Christ Jesus remains the Living Word (John 1:1). Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift (2 Corinthians 9:15). God Almighty gave His best and He gave His all (John 3:16-20).

What should be our response to this wonderful gift of love? We should respond with humility, joy, praise, worship, thanksgiving and gratitude for God’s wonderful gift which human words are truly inadequate to describe.

Remember that you are loved and appreciated,

Yours to reach this generation with the Gospel,
